We want more English Music on AIR FM. Stop ALL bengali programmes. Red FM is doing wonders on radio.
--- Aslam Seikh. Kolkata 19. Received on 25 October, 2006.

The programmes of FM Rainbow should be thoroughly reviewed. It is claimed by the authority that programmes of FM Rainbow are highly accepted by young generation . It is not the fact. There is some defect in programme survey. --- Purnendu Chakraborty, Kolkata 106. Received on 22 October,2006

Hello I am sharmee and good luck to all radio listeners and radio ppl who are making it big . I am basically from kolkata but i moved to america last year
I am back to Kolkata and feeling too bad . I was a regular tuner of 93.5 red fm and I was regular listener of shakeeb ( the mad man raat baaki baat baaki )
I am missing him so much ooo god he was so energetic and his content was a mass appeal with a classy tinge . I want to request the station director to call him back and let him do his job he was superb mindblowing

I pray he reads my note -- shakeeb we love u remember me diya , debosmita , leena , sreya , gargi, udita , konkona , rishab , akhil, debnath , tipu, piklu we used to talk all nite and we disturb u during the shows and u used to say meri naukri ek din jaegi was it because of us u left no shakeeb we used to be so friendly and discuss so much knowledge remember once we all were awake till 5 am . shakeeb u were a great peson and red fm is dead now its no more life after 12 midnite all those who came were not even yur shadows plzz shakeeb aapko hamari koi baat buri lagi ho toh I am sorry . Jahan bhi raho khush raho aur ho sakey toh ek baar mujhe mail karo.
----Sharmee. Received on 9 September, 2006.

Hello RMI, I love the show 'Dil Chahta Hai' on Radio Mirchi. I am sending my vote in their favour. I hope you would count it. What I want to know who is Dr Love?
---- Srinjini Das, Kolkata 4. Received on 27 May, 2006.

Dear RMI, Why do you waste time on rating some silly and debased programmes aired by the FM stations? No body gains anything from those debased songs these stations play again and again and again and again. ---- Anirban Basu, Kolkata 33. Received on 23 April, 2006.

Hello RMI!
What's wrong with RED FM? THEY ARE JUST BAD. THEIR MUSIC IS BAD! STUPID STATION.
---- Ranjan, Kolkata 64. Received on 18 February, 2006.

Hi RMI! I am very angry with Mir of Mirchi. He is not reading my mails though I keep sending him my messages at rjmir@radiomirchi.com
Tell him that I like his shows. But can’t he do a Bengali countdown on Mirchi?
----- Ankita, Behala. Received on 10 December,2005

Hi, I am a regular listener of Aamar FM. They are DARUN BHALO. I am so happy that Aamar FM is presenting us programmes on OTI UTTAM series of Ennadu TV Bengali. I like all the RJs of AAMAR.
Chaliye Jao! --- Ashim Senapati, Bagbazar, Kolkata. Received on 5 December, 2005.

Hello RMI, Power FM is doing a good job by giving a chance to people to come and actualy host the show.
I think it's a fantastic idea. Keep up the good work. Jimmy is doing a good job on Red FM (Dil Se).
Well, all I would like to say is that east or west Kolkata Radio is the best.-- Shazia Ahmad, Dharamtala.
Received on 4 December, 2005.

Dear RMI, 98.3 Mirchi is doing stupid things now. They have no idea about what we want. They should play more International and Bengali music. They should talk with us directly on the radio. Their system of 'ANSWERING MACHINE' is not listener friendly. They should learn from AIR FM.
--- Jatin Pawar, Kolkata 17. Received on 27 November, 2005.

Radio in Kolkata is improving day by day.our Kolkata RJs have no match wen compared to RJs of other cities.and i think Red FM is the best what with Siddharth beginning the day in a chirpy note, ten Rakesh and Pragya with their liveliness,Nilam and Maushumi with their bubbliness,Vineet with his humour and Rehan with his seriousness.and the jackpot lies on Friday with Jimmy and Dil Se.but what we all miss is Shakeeb who used to be the king of night and used to refresh us after a tiring day. Please do come back,Shakeeb.thank u

Hi there! Read the mail of Romancho Sen (REAL NAME?). It appears that he has taken up the cause of RJ Sanjeev of RED FM. Sanjeev was not bad except for his little aggressive attitude which was evident even to a listener who only sees the radio receiver. But yes, he is missed very much by many many listeners in Kolkata. That's part of life. Some stay, some go.

There were many great RJs and presenters on Kolkata radio. Who can ever forget the voice of Ranjan Mitra of AIR FM English section? His famous 'Talk free' sessions and series on religion, British rule in India are still remembered by listeners of the city. Can anyone forget Dr Amit Chakrobarty, who opened up the closed windows of our minds with his couselling programmes on AIR FM Aaj Raate?

Fiona of RED, Anindita and Shalini of MIRCHI pepped up our spirits with great elan. Where are they now? No body knows. But we still remember them all. Who says public memory is short? Fiona if you're reading this mail, please please come back.

No one can ever deny the contribution of Sailen Ghosh, Saumitra Basu, Swaraj Basu for their immortal Bengali Talk Shows on AIR FM, as they were called then. They upheld the ethos of broadcasting from AIR FM Kolkata. We do not hear them anymore. Please come up with special pages on them if you can. They are the most revered brodcasters in recent times.

We miss the Rock shows of Sudev Basu, and 'Profiles' by Kushal Biswas. These shows were little outdated in content but the effort put to bring them to the listeners has to be appreciated.

Finally, among the recent 'missing voices,' we do not hear Biswadip Mitra of AIR FM English. Where is that man? His voice on 'Cyberline' is still ringing in our ears.

Dear RMI, you will do us a favour if you can track these RJs and let us know where they are.

hey man where is shakeeb and nandini of red fm? i think red fm sucks without shakeeb. he was the ruler of air waves, he was stylish, hard hitting and vibrant. i advice jimmy, the station head of red fm, sack rakesh. He sucks big time along with pragya. sidd is tolerable, vineet is crap copies shakeeb and sidd. neelam is too out dated, maushamee is alone without sanjeev. rehan his voice is like a beggar. stop him. stop rehan. call shakeeb and nandini.

Hi there,A great effort on RMI Kolkata's part to come up with such a site. But I must comment about a few things which I really do not care whether you publish or not. I am an avid radio listener who's listened to it for many years, and that too, all over the world. The coming of private FM operators in Kolkata was at such a time when I was there. And now I will express my discontent and disappointment at having not seen quite a lot of names and facts on your site.

Nomoshkar Kolkata and Sanjeev of RED FM come to mind first. Possessing what could be called one of the "best-ever voices" Radio has heard, this young man was a boon to the Kolkata radio scene. With his superb baritone, he literally took hold of the air-waves. He was Passionate, Serious, Intelligent, Well-informed, Bold, Consummate, Empathetic, Understanding, Casual, Humorous, Kinky, Romantic, all and more at the same time.

And I've noticed that at the same time he was doing his show with RJ Moushmi (an accomplished RJ herself), who spoke in Hindi. This was a first-of-sorts, since we've never heard any show where 2 RJs spoke in a mix of Hindi and Bengali. It is, rather was, a very
difficult thing to do. And he virtually spoke about every and any topic, and the way he handled callers and his guests, be it celebs or corporate big-wigs, it was simply brilliant. And how can one forget the superb outdoors he gave on his own show, with Moushmi playing the perfect foil in-studio ?

I have also heard his Bengali Music Countdown show on weekends, and one could assess from the music he played and whatever he spoke, that he was the future of Kolkata's Radio. And with due respect, Moushmi did a good job too, but Sanjeev was simply outstanding ... movies, music, business, sports, current affairs, business and industry, city-based stuff... be it the way he spoke on the initial musical piece of songs, or the way he changed and modulated his voice to great effect. Moushmi must be missing her partner dearly.

Now, coming to your surveys, I noticed that sometime ago that you rated this very Sanjeev and Rakesh as the worst RJs of Kolkata. Well, any serious radio listener wouldn't take a moment to decide not to come back to your site ever again! It was ridiculous!
And considering that Rakesh is one of the finest exponents of radio, your survey cast doubts on a stalwart on one hand and the best talent on the other, at the same time!!!!
And coming to talk about radio listenership, I believe that this site is maintained by people who have knowledge about radio (or do they?). Listenership is of two types: one is the active group who write, call-in, and are about 5%; the rest which is the inactive group will never interact with radio people personally but will love and admire them from a distance. I belong to the second category but today, I had to express my views. I guess you should do a comprehensive survey on Rakesh and Sanjeev, and inform visitors to your site what their talent really is.
And to our misfortune, Sanjeev has vanished from the circuit totally for about 6 months now. Like many, many others, I really miss this golden guy, and to be honest, radio isn’t the same in Kolkata anymore. RJ Mir is brilliant too, but perhaps, he lacks the soul and spirit which Sanjeev put in his shows.
Everybody has the right to information, so would it be asking for too much if as a genuinely interested radio-addict, I want to know what this young man is doing presently????

And now my opinion about a couple of other things:

Moushmi should come back to the morning show. Although she'll miss Sanjeev too like all of us out here, but I believe she is the only jockey who can do justice to that show. Please don’t do any show with any female RJs of all things!! All female jocks have a lot to learn from her.
Mir is now playing in an empty field with Sanjeev not being there, but he should be a bit more decent in the way he sometimes speaks. Radio is for entertainment, but not for obscene remarks he makes.
Jimmy was one of the best, but he should realise that times have changed. He should stop taking the same callers and also stop repeating the same lines in all his shows. Agreed it is a soulful show(Dilse), but my dear friend should realise that life doesn’t move along just with big words. Jimmy, please stop being patronising, and try and sound more genuine, and play more International music.
Rakesh, we want you to do a single show. U sound great with Pragya, as always, but we want to hear how you would sound alone... It will be wonderful, don’t you think so?
Pragya should do more of music-based shows, and cut down on the yuppie tone she has taken on in the last couple of years. You sound okay like before, so cut out the tricks.
Siddharth is one of the best, very close to the likes of Sanjeev, Moushmi and Rakesh. He is very good, but must learn the language of the city. Also, he lacks a bit in the feel-factor.
The other RJs of red, the lesser said, the better.
Arnobi of Mirchi is a very good talent...want to hear more shows from here. And Amar FMs Rupam is a riot. Its sick the way he talks. Guess they should have some parameter for judging a RJs quality. And last but not the least, I would like to see your site implement a few of my humble suggestions.Happy listening.

Hello RMI Kolkata, You people have been maintaining a perfect record of what happens on Kolkata airwaves. Thanx a ton! All India Radio has changed a lot in all these years. Can we expect few more changes like not bothering us with inane phone calls by same people in the Bengali talk shows? And will the presenters please allow new callers?
Radio Mirchi 98.3FM is a technically sound station. But what sort of programme content are they offering? Music and music and that also same music again and again. In case any Mirchi staffer reads this mail (if you at all publish it) then kindly think about it.

---- P Chaudhuri, South end Road, Kolkata 29. Received on 3 July, 2005.

Dear Radio Monitors, Radio Mirchi repeats music like other stations. But why do they do that? Don't they have enough music? Too bad to hear same songs. AIR FM is better but they can't play music properly and they have too many stupid advertisements for 5 to 15 minutes. I just turn off the station and listen to 107.8FM or 93.5FM. ---- Geeta Pandit Kolkata 68. Received on 14 June, 2005.

Hello guys, You have done an Excellent job at RMI Kolkata.
The voting site is Excellent. But one thing which I must point out that there is not sufficient representation of AIR FM YOUTH TIME RJs and AIR FM Bengali RJs. Please ask the listeners and net surfers to VOTE MORE for YOUTH TIME RJs and AIR FM Bengali RJs.--- Anjum, Kolkata 16. Received on 29 May, 2005.

Hi Radio Monitors, I am a regular listener of Raat Baaki Baat Baki of 93.5 RED FM. RJ Shakeeb is doing a FANTABULOUS job though I do not like his way of laughing. But the barrage of questions he has been asking is funny and it is good fun at night. But on 93.5FM no good Bangla song or Good Indipop. Can you please let the RJs know my opinion. I did write to them but no response.--- Saikat, Lake Town Kolkata. Received on 29 May, 2005.

Dear RMI, Thanx a ton for giving me prize for the RMI International survey. It is a great ACD. I am listening to it whenever I can. Keep up the good work. ---- Krutika Patel, Mumbai 29.

Hi Radio Monitors, Your idea of asking us to vote is superb!
Thanx a ton! Hope that you would update the results regularly. But hey where is Jimmy? Why isn't he at Number 1? What is this Aaj Rate? Is it a new animal? What does it eat?
--- Kinkini Roy, Kolkata 29. Received on 5 May, 2005.

Dear RMI, Thank you so much for your effort. I am a radio enthusiast and I keep searching the net to know about radio stations. I chanced upon your sites and felt very good. I am basically from Calcutta and it was simply fantastic to find that Radio back home is alive and happening. I wish someday I go back to Calcutta and listen to the RJs of all the FM stations. I have voted for the best music, though whatever Hindi I hear it is on the web radio. Still, I hope you would count me as a music lover. Chill!

Hello,
I am a regular listener of AIR FM Kolkata. I have a question. Why have you NOT mentioned the names of English presenter like Ratna Sen and several well known Bengali presenters like Chanda Sen, Barun Das among others? Isn't this a major flaw on your part?
Moreover, where are the ratings of other major AIR stations of the country?
I appreciate what you have done and see no reason to fume like a jealous monster. But your effort should be complete and not half done. I hope you would do the needful.---- N Chatterjee. Kolkata 37.
Received on 25 April, 2005.
EDITOR's NOTE: Dear Mr Chatterjee, Ratings are unique of our Kolkata Chapter. Please check your mailbox for our detailed reply. Thank You.

Hey guys, Its really commendable, you guys are doing a great job. I think you all should take it up in a more broader sense and try to rate the RJs among all stations...as a fan , I would love to see where my RJ stands. Its exciting!! You can also have polling/voting from the viewers of your website. As a fan of Red FM I would take the opportunity to thank Red Fm for gifting us with another fabulous voice as in RJ Rehan, with time Im sure he will rock the air waves. I am amazed at his versatility from high energy Mera Wala Gana to soft romantic Lamhe. Once again guys, good work and keep up the website going!! Think about my suggestions!
thanks and regards.---Rahul S Saxena (Address not mentioned)

EDITOR'S NOTE: Thank You buddies! Keep it Up!

Hi! I don't agree with your views about English RJs of AIR FM Kolkata and POWER FM. I think English RJs of AIR FM Rainbow have been doing a GREAT JOB for the last three years. All of them are my favourite RJs.
POWER 107.8 RJs are also Great, specially Sonia and Rai. I love their style. Its true that they play same songs again and again, but I do not listen to FM stations for the music. I listen to them for the presentation of the RJs. --- Kinkini Roy Kolkata 29.
Received on 5 April, 2005.

Hello Radio Monitors India! Never really thought that someone can do such a splendid job and put Kolkata's radio on the net with the names of RJs and their abilities.
I have been going through the mails you have posted. I do partly agree with Sambit Chatterjee of Lake Road. AIR FM Kolkata has surely gone haywire with bad programme content. HELLO KOLKATA of AIR FM RAINBOW hosted by SK and Rani is utterly BAD! This SK is TOTALLY FALTU! He's a disgrace on the Radio!
Similarly, there are several BAD programmes on the AAJ RATE. Gone are the days when actor Biplab Chatterjee used to be a host. Stalwarts like Urmimala Bose, Angana Bose, Saumitra Bose, Amit Roy used to host 'Bengali Talk Show' from 10PM. What happened to them?
But there are few very good RJs and Presenters who are still carrying on with the thankless job.
All I can hope that they try to save AIR FM Kolkata from the whims of Inefficient Bosses.
But advertisement is a MUST. Where from will the money come for running the stations? So, we will have to tolerate the advertisements on the radio.
Best Wishes to whole of RMI team. ---- Ajanta Sen, Behala.
Received on 31 March, 2005.

Hi friend,
It is an excellent work done by you. I am a regular listner of all the FM stations of Kolkata. I listen whenever I get a chance.
My favourite RJs are MIR & ARNABI {MIRCHI},
DEBASISH & ARUNIMA {AIR FM RAINBOW}. They are really fabulous, fantastic. Best of luck to you & my favourite RJs. --- Manish Bose. (Address not mentioned)
Received on 30 March, 2005.

Dear Radio Monitors,
I am a student of media studies and I find your blogs very interesting. As a student of media, I do listen to the radio and I find most of these stations like MIRCHI, RED, POWER are commercial stations. They have decided to accept the advertiser as their BOSS! But is radio only for the Advertisers? What about the discerning listeners who would like to listen to some Talk Shows, Chat Shows with students (and not just celebs), professional quiz shows (and not the quiz programmes which give away GOODIES for answering STUPID questions). What about some Radio Play of - Merchant of Venice for example? Does entertainment mean MUSIC MUSIC AND ONLY MUSIC? NO, NOT AT ALL! Even a news item can be entertainment. A channel which doesn't make the listener to think, is WORTHLESS CHANNEL.
So far as AIR FM KOLKATA is concerned, we still hear few Good programmes, but I understand there are people there who'd prefer to EXPERIMENT (and DESTROY) the 2 stations. These are the people who are averse to Talk Shows and order the RJs to play music and TALK LESS. This is perhaps the result of their ignorance of the World Broadcasting standards and avenues. ---- Sambit Chatterjee, Lake Road, Kolkata.
Received on 19 March 2005.

Hi! I have been following your site regularly. It's a great effort, indeed! Although not sweet to all! I would like to clear few of my doubts...hope to get a reply. Well, Sulagna of Red FM is not heard for long.....but I can see that you have rated her in March'2005, whereas, Vineet's name is not included. There are so many RJs in AIR FM Rainbow (Hindi section), but only a few are mentioned. Sanjeev Dev Chowdhury hosts the Sunday Countdown Show regularly, but his name is not included in the list, Seema Bhattacharya also hosts shows regularly, but she is also not included in the list, whereas, Neelam Sharma, Zareena, Nusrat etc. are not regular RJs but their names are mentioned. I wish you all the very best in your effort!------- Mandira Sengupta. (Address not mentioned)

Hello, Our friends told us about this site. Good job! But we don't agree with anything bad about JIMMY of RED FM.
We love JIMMY and DIL SE! Its the best show. JIMMY has a great voice and he is doing a GREATTTT JOB!
We know he connects heart and that's REAL! ---- Shreshtha and Preethika, Communications Dept, FGS, Calcutta 91. Received on 23rd February 2005.

Hello RMI! Well done guys. But frankly I have nothing to say. All the shows are same! They simply play songs again and again. AIR FM is too bad! Saradin khali faltu katha aar boka boka gaan. Too much of quiz during Aaj Rate. Proper adda aar hoyna. --- Sujoy Ray. Selimpur Road. Kolkata. Received on 17 February 2005.

Hey what's Jimmy of DIL SE up to? Does he really connect people or its just SHIT!!!!!!!!!!??? ---- Anirban. Lake Town Block B. Received on 12 February 2005.

POWER FM is wonderful no matter what you at Radio Monitors say. Hear Sanjiv Tiwari and his Shyaris? East or west they are the best! They play the latest music. Their sound is EXCELLENT! Truly POINT 8 MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE. -- Shilpi of New Alipore. Received on 11 February 2005.
